McLeansboro, Illinois, senior session

I have been blessed with some awesome senior guys to photograph over the years. The more I can get to know them the better our sessions go. When I sent out my senior questionnaire, Logan indicated that he was into football, farming, and his faith. That laid the groundwork for our session. It was also a lot easier to plan because he wanted his session done at the High School football field and his Grandpa's Farm. It's always a little scary for me to not be able to location scout before heading there on the day of the session, but this turned out great.

On the day of the session, it was gorgeous out. The fall leaves were changing, and the weather was optimal, albeit a bit windy. Lucky for me, Logan had short hair, so the wind didn't impact us at all.

Our session turned out great. After the gallery was edited and the family saw the photos, Mom told me she was very emotional, seeing it reminded her of all they had been through. We can't always tell what story others are holding inside, and if we know, it's not our story to tell. But what I love about my job is being able to hang out with someone, not knowing the full depth of their story, but being able to tell a portion of it through photographs. Sometimes photographs communicate more than words can, and I hope these photographs communicate strength, direction, and a firm foundation for Logan, because that's what I see.
